Pastor Amos Self has served as Lead Pastor of Verndale Family Life Church since 2010. He and his wife, Melodee, answered God’s call to lead what was then Verndale Assembly of God, a congregation of fewer than 20 people in a community of approximately 600.
After graduating from high school in Staples, Minnesota, Amos joined the Marine Corps in 1997 and was stationed in Southern California. He and Melodee were high school sweethearts and married in 1999. In 2001, they returned to Minnesota so Amos could attend Bible college at North Central University.
Amos graduated in 2006 as a licensed minister with the Assemblies of God and began serving in youth ministry at Wadena Assembly of God. He later received his ordination in 2014.
Melodee leads worship and is actively involved in connecting with and encouraging women in the church. Together, Amos and Melodee have three children: Paige, who is married to Kaden; Brooke, who is married to Koby; and Miles.
